Food & Feeding 2

All live food needs to be looked after nearly as much as looking after your geckos. So only buy as much as you can keep alive for a reasonable amount of time. that may sound obvious but think about it you need to feed water and in some cases keep them at a certain temperature its not cost effective to buy so much food that you cant look after it so it all dies. I only buy enough to keep me going for at most a month

There are probably lots of ways to keep your live food. I use large kricket keepers see pic (a) below to keep my crickets in until there ready for feeding then I transfer them into a small kricket keeper see pic (b) below. My locusts I keep in a large flat faunarium see pic (c) below The mealworms I keep in there plastic tubs. I have found that keeping the crickets warm seems to help make them last longer so I put a heat mat under them at a temperature of around 84-87f for there water I use bug gel so they don't drown as they would if you just used a pot of water. For the locusts I use a heat mat with a temperature around 84-87f I also hang a heat lamp above them to boost the day time temperature to well over 95f this is on a timer so in the evening it switches off and they get there heat from the mat. With the mealworms put them in the fridge or you can get a cheap cooler for around £15 from Argos this will keep them fresh for ages
